I wanted a fun new taste, but I didn’t want to resort to sugary options of soda and flavored drinks that have a lot of chemicals. So I did some research and found that there is a great option that is easy to make and really tasty. I figure if there is a way to make even iced tea healthier.

Hibiscus Ice Tea Recipe

Here’s a super easy recipe you’ll love.

Ingredients:

2 heaping tablespoons loose hibiscus flowers

4 cups water

1 cup apple juice (most any juice is good)

Stevia or Honey or your favorite sweetener 

Ice

HOW TO MAKE HIBISCUS ICED TEA: 

Boil Water: Start by boiling 4 cups of water in a pot.

Steep: Add in loose hibiscus flowers. Turn off the heat and let tea steep for 10-15 minutes. I always love to watch the beautiful shade of ruby red the water turns—gorgeous!

Strain: Pour the tea through a strainer into a pitcher to remove the hibiscus flowers.

Add in juice

Sweeten to Taste: If you like it sweet, add honey, stevia or your preferred sweetener while the tea is still warm. Stir it up until it’s all mixed in.

Cool: Let the tea cool to room temp, then add some ice, pop it in the fridge.

Serve: Fill a glass with ice, pour in the chilled hibiscus tea, and garnish with fresh mint leaves or berries if you’re feeling fancy.
